Clinton and Trump’s Views on Healthcare

I found this link that is the most unbiased article I have read about the topic. It discusses both what Clinton and Trump have stated they would want to do in regards to health care. This was written before the election took place. It covers multiple topics. I do not know all the logistics of … Continue reading Clinton and Trump’s Views on Healthcare →

This was written before the election took place. It covers multiple topics. I do not know all the logistics of costs and insurance and such while working as a nurse because I am not in that role yet. Having said that, I am not entirely sure how the election will affect me as a future nurse, but look forward to reading other articles by you guys!

I spent a good amount of time on Saturday disconnecting from technology and the class as well. Since you assigned us this assignment, I decided it would be a good time to disconnect from school as well, as it almost goes hand in hand with technology. On my hike, I saw a variety of people and how they interacted with other people and technology. I went on a hike as a therapeutic release from everything. I saw people challenging themselves and racing through the trail, and I also saw the opposite, people strolling through the trail stopping to look at every interesting little thing. And then there were also photographers, both landscape photographers and selfie takers. I noticed generally that people who rushed through the trail were generally less disconnected than individuals who stopped to look at things. Also, people in groups were more likely to talk amongst themselves and were generally less likely to use their phone aside from pictures. Overall, I noticed that people on the trail were less likely to be on their phones than people out and about such as the mall. This could partly be due to the lack of reception out on hiking trails which prevent people from communicating with other people through their phones so that they tend to use their phones less. Overall, it was interesting observing people on hiking trails and how they interact with one another and technology as it was different than how people are at a mall.

Disconnect

I chose Saturday to disconnect from the internet, phone, email, text, computer, and television. I prepared breakfast with my kids; we ate as a whole family, which rarely happens due to our busy school/ work schedules. I chose Saturday to disconnect from the internet, phone, email, text, computer, and television. I prepared breakfast with my kids; we ate as a whole family, which rarely happens due to our busy school/ work schedules. Saturday was a good day for me to choose to disconnect since my kids were home, so no need to call or text to pick up from school, and I had to study for my medsurg exam. Later that evening, we had family visit, this lady who came from back home (Palestine) to seek medical help to her chronic authorities. She was a very sweet lady, who reminded me of my sisters that live far away. I felt connected to her in the same way that I connect to my patients in the hospital, I felt the pain and suffering in her voice, while there is no cure for her disease. She was telling me about the daily struggles of having the disease. Then I had to use the computer to search for medical centers that she can go to get advice or therapy for her arthritis disease. It was not that hard to disconnect from technology that day since I had so many things to do, but I sure did not last for 24 hours!

This weekend I was able to disconnect for half the day. My brother who lives in San Diego came to town to visit so I decided this was the perfect time to disconnect! We were able to go out for a nice quiet breakfast and visit with my dad. It is always rejuvenating when you get to turn all social media off and just enjoy each others company. I have to say it was stressful to disconnect before a test because I kept thinking in the back of my head that this time should be spent on studying! However at the end of the day I always cherish the time I get to spend with my family and would rather do that over studying!
